TIME FOR MAKING BOOKS

NOT ENOUGH TIME FOR MAKING KINDERLIT BOOKS?
We have exhibited at many conferences over the years and have heard many teachers lament that they just don’t have the time to complete our KinderLit books anymore.  Sometimes we don’t either!

Here’s how we adapted our Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? book to save time.  Rather than have the children collage the illustrations, we modeled the drawing of each animal for the pages using basic shapes along with some background.

By reducing the amount of time each page took to complete, the children were able to work in their books at a reading station.  Our children rotate through four stations each day, staying at each one for about 15 minutes, plenty of time to finish the writing and the drawing.  Check these out!
Love the expression on this frog!

No two animals ever come out the same!

Fat ducks, skinny ducks, fair ones too!

Showing off their purple cats!
The benefits of using KinderLit books remain the same whether the children are collaging or drawing.  They must still plan, think, and problem-solve while trying to create an animal with appropriate background, sizing, and spacing.  They are so proud of their books and love reading them over and over!

ANOTHER JOB BOARD FREEBIE!
If you have been following our blog posts, you know that we explained our Morning Job Board and described several of the jobs on it.  Here’s another freebie that our students love to do every morning!

Our students love to reach the job, Mysterious Word Hunt, on the Morning Job Board.  Here's a free sample of 12 half-sheets for you to try with your students: What's the Word?   They must figure out what the sight word is using the alphabet code on each sheet.  We also offer 3 complete sets of these sheets with different sight words in each one of the Mysterious Word Hunt sets. Add your own sight words and student names!
