KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION - FATHER'S DAY LINK UP

Lisa:  We're almost done for the year!  Next Thursday is our last day of school and we have never had a graduation ceremony in the past.  Our thought was that the students were just going up a grade level within the same school - not a "graduation" as when students leave one school to go up to another.

What do you do at your school?  Please leave a comment below and let us know what you do about a kindergarten graduation.

As if we don't have enough to do, our new principal came up with a Kindergarten Celebration idea instead!  Now we have our parents coming in first thing in the morning for a little song program in the music room.  Not sure how we're going to squeeze in all 5 classes and their parents!  Then we'll all head back to our rooms for a donut where the children will share their last KinderLit book of the year with their parents, I Bloomed in Kindergarten!  Each one will receive a certificate and then the parents will leave but the children have a full day of school this year - no early release!

Busy time for another 45 minutes or so before lunch!  In the afternoon we have to finish clearing out the rooms with the furniture pushed to one side.  The last hour will be our annual Water Day!  We put out Slip 'n' Slides, sprinklers, bubbles, and small tubs of water for washing classroom toys.  So much fun but so exhausting!   I'll be ready for summer break!

FATHER'S DAY

Linda:  Since our school always ends before June, our students don't create anything special for fathers.  But my granddaughter's preschool made framed pictures of each child on the playground and the kids glued nuts and bolts on the frames.  I wasn't able to get a snapshot of it before she took it home but I did  take one of this very quick and easy project on half a sheet of card stock:
She was in the 3-year-old class this year and is just now learning to print her name.  But your students could sign it themselves - maybe even write the whole sign!

Do you have any projects for Father's Day?  Share with everyone by leaving a description in the comment section below!  We'll all thank you!

KinderLit Celebrations!

As the year comes to a close, we've been busy with school and travel.

Linda:  I have recently made two trips to a quilting retreat for 4 fun days of sewing and a family visit to New Hampshire where I visited my niece's and nephew's families.  I love being retired!  But I'm the one responsible for putting this blog together - sorry it's been a while since I posted.  Having too much fun!  But now I'm paying for it with strep throat - bummer.

Lisa:  And I have been working hard with end-of-the-year testing, report cards, and finishing up our kindergarten work.  But I, too, am going to be traveling!  My mother lives in the state of Washington and the whole family will be together to celebrate her 90th birthday!   Once I get home, there will be only 9 more days of school before summer break.  So much to do - so little time!

When are you finished for the summer?

Three products you might like! And all on sale this Tuesday and Wednesday!
We like to end the year with one last KinderLit book.  Based on Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus,  I Bloomed in Kindergarten is a self-assessment book that the students create to take home as a memory book of all that they learned during the year.

Is it too early to think about the beginning of next year?  We love leaving for the summer with our first books prepped and ready to go!  Here are two we love to make.

Based on Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten by Joseph Slate, our version is the very first book we make.  As we introduce areas of the room, such as the block corner, the children work on that page in the book I'm Ready for Kindergarten.  A great book to display on Back to School Night!

Our Kindergarten Keepsake Book is a pre- and post-assessment book.   We do the left side of each page in the beginning of school (or when we receive a new student) and then the right side at the end of the year.  The students love to see their August work in May!

Have fun shopping this week and have a great Teacher Appreciation Week!
