❄ 12 Months of the Year
Lisa:  My class is getting ready for the best holiday program!  In preparation of the New Year, we learn the names of the months and then have a parent program on the last day before vacation.  We are learning a different song for each month and the children are collaging hats and signs to hold during their show, corresponding to their birthday month!

We try to use songs that are part of our Music teacher's curriculum rather than work hard to find our own!  For instance, January's song is "Oh, It Snowed Last Night."

Everyone who has a January birthday creates a snowman collage for their hat and sign.

Here's a few samples:
Six Little Ducks for April.  The teachers or parent volunteers cut out the hats and glitter the names beforehand.

Thank you, Home Depot, for contributing paint stirrers for our show!

"Will You Be My Valentine?" and "Jack-o-Lantern" samples
❄ Our gift to you!
Linda: Of course our students will be creating a KinderLit book about the 12 months of the year!  We read Twelve Hats for Lena by Karen Katz and then make a page a day in our student books.  And during our writer's workshop, we work on that month's page, finding words in our room for the month.

Beginning today, you can purchase this KinderLit book that includes the journal for 50% off! This special ends Monday at midnight so buy yours now!  It's also a fun book to make in January when you return from the holidays.

This sale is good on TpT and our website
